Database of inhabitants of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia who died on the occupied territory

Database of inhabitants of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia who died on the occupied territory

Based on existing printed or electronic databases (sourced from the Military History Institute Prague, the Museum of Romani Culture, and the Terezín Initiative Institute) and based on archival and field research, as comprehensive a list as possible will be compiled of citizens of the former Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia who were executed and tortured to death, who died as a result of ethnic persecution, wartime events, and bombings on the territory of the former Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Thus, the list will not include individuals killed on battlefields outside the territory, those killed and tortured to death in concentration camps outside the Protectorate, and persons who died on the territory of the former Protectorate but were not its citizens, such as soldiers of the fighting armies, prisoners of war, or foreign forced labourers. In 2022, negotiations began with institutions that are creating or have already created individual databases (the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes, the Society for Military Memorial Sites) and negotiations with other institutions are underway (the Museum of Romani Culture, the Terezín Initiative Institute, the Military History Institute, and the Czechoslovak Legionnaires).
